Player Profile: Ritchie

He's now achieved veteran status and, after managing the team last season, it's an overdue player profile for Ritchie!

Key Facts:

Name: Ritchie Powell Position: Defender Year Joined: 2011 Home Town: London

Favourite Team: AFC Wimbledon

Why did you join Falcons and what can you remember about your first experience with us?

I had seen Falcons adverts for couple of years before joining as wanted to play 11-aside and meet people with similar interests. I’m glad I did as I have made some very good friends and wish I'd joined earlier. I’m now as in my 6th season & still loving it!

Which professional footballer do you most resemble or admire?

Becks was an awesome team player both for club and country, but I've always liked John Terry for his total commitment on the pitch. Unfortunately he's a total c*nt off it. I can relate to that.

What is your favourite Falcons memory on or off the pitch?

I've loved the tournaments & away trips throughout the UK & Europe as it's always a good laugh being on the road with your mates. The 2013 GFSN Summer Tournament in Manchester was a lot of fun although we did lose the final on penalties. It was also great to be a part of the squad that travelled to Hamburg in 2015 to play in the European Cup. No one will forget Jack intentionally throwing a drink over his head while dancing!

Winning the LUL team's Players' Player of the Season award in 2015 was also a massive honour. I was totally shocked!

Worst memory?

Easy. Losing in the GFSN Cup final this year when we should have won by half time! We absolutely dominated that game but it was just one of those games where nothing went right. Definitely our bogey competition.

Most annoying team mate and why?

Most annoying team mate has to be Gracey for various reasons. He gets a bit carried away with teacher mode at time and needs to remember I'm a mate and footballer, not one of his students! That said, he's also one of the nicest people to have worn the shirt.

Why should someone join Falcons?

The social side is as good as the football side so it's a great all-round experience. I've been here for five years so it must be pretty good!

Falcons train every Tuesday evening at Kennington Park. Get in touch by emailing info@londonfalcons.co.uk
