On a blustery day at Dukes Meadows, Titans XXL fought back from 2-0 down at half time to defeat Falcons 4-2.
It was a day of returns and debuts for Falcons, with Matty making his first start between the sticks, while Pete, Kieran and Kaz all returned to LUL action.
With a few sore heads evident on the opposition side, Falcons started very strongly and were rewarded after 10 minutes with the opening goal. Kaz picked up the ball on the edge of the area, cut inside onto his left foot and hit an unstoppable shot to make it 1-0.
The scoreline was doubled on the half hour mark when good work from Kieran down the right saw a bouncing ball land at Louis' feet. The striker calmly lobbed the ball over the goalkeeper and Falcons made it 2-0.
The rest of the half saw good defending across the pitch but a couple of golden opportunities went begging.
There were also some great chances to grab a third in the opening minutes of the second half but the ball never seemed to land quite right to get a good contact on the ball. Inevitably Falcons were punished and there was a fair onslaught from Titans who had woken up in time to use the strong wind behind them for the next half hour. 2-0 became 2-4 as tiring legs took their toll and Falcons were left to lick their wounds in the bar as Man United and Chelsea played out a 1-1 draw.
